Terms

The rules for using OpenIM, in plain language. Last updated: 12 October 2026.

In short: the free account is free. Paid plans are paid once per year, are never renewed automatically, and you can get your money back within 14 days. Follow the server rules and be decent to others.

1. Who we are

OpenIM (openim.nl) is run by IC Systems, ADDRESS TO BE ADDED, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 95995919. Questions? Email contact@openim.nl.

2. Free accounts

A free account costs nothing and stays free.
You follow the server rules. If you break them, we can block or remove your account.
Files you share are deleted from the server after 30 days.
You can stop using your account at any time.

3. Paid plans

Supporter: €10 per year, for one account.
Your own domain: €60 per year, per domain.
Prices are in euros and include VAT, if VAT applies.
You pay once for one year, through Mollie (iDEAL, card and more).
There is no subscription. We never charge you automatically.
If you pay before your year ends, the new year is added to the time you have left.

4. Cancelling and refunds

Changed your mind? Email us within 14 days of paying and you get your money back in full. No questions asked. A short message is enough; you may also use the form below. We refund within 14 days, to the account you paid with.
After those 14 days, you have paid for the full year. We do not refund part of a year.
To stop, do nothing. When your year ends, it simply ends. You do not have to cancel anything.
If you gave us an email address, we remind you before the end of your year.

5. When your paid year ends

Supporter: your account goes back to the free limits. Your account, contacts and messages stay. If you use more storage than the free limit, your oldest files are removed first.
Your own domain: we contact you before we remove anything, so you have time to renew or move.

6. Your own domain

You must own the domain or have permission to use it.
Keep the DNS records we ask for in place. Without them, the domain stops working.
You are responsible for the accounts on your domain. The same server rules apply to them.

7. What we promise, and what we cannot

We do our best to keep OpenIM online, secure and fast. We cannot promise it will never be down.
Keep your own copy of anything important. We are not liable for lost messages or files.
If something does go wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.
If we ever shut OpenIM down, we tell you at least 30 days in advance and refund the unused part of any paid year.

8. Changes

If we change these terms, we post the new version here. A change that is worse for you never applies to a year you have already paid for.

9. Law

Dutch law applies. If we disagree about something, email us first; we would much rather solve it together.
